MANILA, Philippines β A magnitude 5.1 earthquake shook the province of Surigao del Sur on Sunday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Tectonic in origin, the quake had a depth of 22 kms, the seismology bureau said.

Phivolcs director Teresito Bacolcol said that aftershocks are likely but damage to infrastructure is not expected.
